We liked this hotel and especially appreciated the onsen. Reception staff were helpful even though the hotel was quite busy. and they are trained to use telephone translation for any particular question of concern out of the normal routine. Personally we loved the Japanese oriented breakfast, even as they had also some possibilities for foreign guests. The lobby was nice and the hotel provides sitting and non alcoholic drinks in the restaurant until late. The bed in our room was large with space under it for our suitcases. There was not a wardrobe but this is usual for many local hotels in Japan. The restaurant is immediately next to the lift as you come down for breakfast. When you first check in at the hotel, the hotel gives you a separate printed breakfast card for each day of your stay, which you hand in at the door of the restaurant. Some foreign travellers in other reviews might not initially have appreciated that your room key is not enough in this case when the hotel also offers the option of staying in a room without breakfast. Culturally in this country it is difficult to say no to anybody directly - also when understanding of different languages and accents by restaurant staff can normally also be really quite limited. How you placed your card on the table was also important for them to know whether the table was reserved while you chose your meal, or when you turned the card over to indicate that you have completely finished your meal. This card is really the logical and viable solution in this case for the hotel and works well - and when this situation is fully appreciated and the logic of this card culturally is fully understood this can prevent further misunderstandings. We would still stay there again if only because we appreciated the onsen and the breakfast and the opportunity of exploring this beautiful city again.

We had a great stay at this hotel in Takayama during the festival. The location is excellent — just a 5 to 10 minute walk from the train and bus stations, and also very close to the city center and all the main attractions. The room was small but had everything we needed and was clean and comfortable. The breakfast buffet offered a wide variety of options, both Japanese and Western, which was perfect to start the day. There’s also a small public bath that was a nice bonus to relax in after a day out. Overall, a convenient and comfortable stay in a great location!

Location was great, a nice walk to station and old town. Surrounding area was quiet and lovely, and the rooms were decently soundproofed. The view from our window meant we could watch the sunset from our bed over the hills. Staff were lovely and very helpful, and there is a free manga selection in the lobby were you can borrow books from to take and read in your room. Restaurant space is also open, outside of breakfast hours for free use, so you are able to do some work, or have some food at the tables whilst helping yourself to their available drinks. Onsen was small but nice, and the womens onsen needs a code to get into, so safety is a priority.

We absolutely loved our stay at this place. The staff were great and very helpful. They booked reservations at restaurants, provided suggestions on places to eat, helped us with our luggage delivery to our next hotel and provided luggage storage. We were even allowed to check-in a few hours early because our room was already cleaned and ready. They had a onsen on site and also laundry machines. It was also a short walk away from the Takayama bus/train station. The room was super clean and comfortable for the two of us. Bathroom was also very clean. All amenities we needed were available.

Really great hotel in Takayama! The location is super convenient as it’s right in the centre, the train and bus station is only a 5 minute walk away. The room and the rest of the hotel was super clean and well maintained. We loved the free cosmetics that were provided! Overall it was just a great hotel, room was modern and had everything we could’ve needed.

We arrived to Takayama via train and the hotel was good 5-10min walking distance to the main train station. This helped us a lot, because we planned 2 trips from there. The hotel looks nice and fits well into the surroundings and looks prestigious from the inside. The staff, as is typical for Japan, were very friendly, polite and helpful. We also easily got from it to the famous old town market, so it's well located. The room itself was nice, sized OK, for Japan, so there was nothing to complain about. It was all very clean and the beds were comfy - harder mattress, as is typical for Japan, which we really like! The internet worked well, check-in and check-out experience was great, the staff we spoke to, knew English good enough, that we didn't have any issues. We're only sad, we did not get to try their Onsen (because of our changing plans), we've heard they are great. We will definietly book it again, when we come back to Takayama.
